Take advantage of the most cost-effective and ‘greenest’ form of ground transportation.

EPT’s BIG Red Flexitank is the only flexitank that has been approved by several North American Class I railroads. With access to all forms of intermodal transportation, EPT can plan the most economical route for your bulk liquid products.

RAIL ECONOMICS

Scenario I – Cost:

Door to Door – Los Angeles, CA to Ontario, Canada via truck = $7,176 per tank trailer,
includes fuel surcharge and wash-out charges

Door to Door – Los Angeles, CA to Ontario, Canada via rail = $5,200 per container which
includes fuel surcharge, flexitank, swept-bar bulkhead and fitting

Cost Savings = $1,976.00 per shipment

Scenario II – Environment:

10 trains of liquid chemicals are transported from Newark, NJ to Long Beach, CA –

Transporting by rail vs. truck would save 130 tons of carbon dioxide

A freight train can move a ton of freight an average of 436 miles on a single
gallon of fuel – 4x as far as it could move by truck1

You can ship with confidence in our thoroughly rail tested BIG Red Flexitank. We engineered our state-of-the-art BIG Red Swept-bar Bulkhead System with the demands of rail specifically in mind. We then put it to the test!

PASSED – Association of American Railroads (AAR) Rail Impact Test

The purpose of this test is to ensure that a loaded flexitank can withstand the force of multiple impacts routinely endured during the handling and transportation via rail. Successfully passing the Rail Impact Test in a 20’ ISO Container also satisfies the test criteria now required as part of the Container Owners Association (COA) Recommended Code of Practice for Flexitanks.

PASSED – Association of American Railroads (AAR) Simulation Test

This two-day test consists of a series of impact tests and vibration tests simulating over 260 miles of travel over all classes of rail at accompanying speeds.

EPT Terminal Handling Policy

EPT also has the only flexible bulk liquid container that has gone through a protocol of terminal handling procedures. EPT conducted a series of terminal handling maneuvers in order to measure and observe the effect of liquid dynamics and G-force upon the container and rail equipment. The findings have led to a documented and accepted Terminal Handling Policy. We take seriously not only the safety of your cargo, but also maintaining the integrity of the container and the personal safety of all those handling our products.

EPT is dedicated to providing bulk packaging that meets the highest safety standards while providing you an economical and environmental means of shipping your bulk liquid products. We actively promote environmental awareness and have designed products that allow you to eliminate landfill dependency by reducing and recycling residual waste. Our Recycle Service Plan consists of reclaiming or recycling all parts of our BIG Red Flexitank and our logistics team can develop a plan specific to your needs.
